It was Mrs. Emily Wilson, another Scot, who named the house ‘Hollyrood House’ (note the incorrect spelling) after the monarch’s residence in Edinburgh. She was also the first to use the house as a guesthouse and continued to operate it until her death in 1927. At that time the house boasted ‘superior accommodation and excellent cuisine’ two traits we endeavour to retain today.
