The original owner of ‘The Firs’, as this house was called when built in 1864, was Donald McLeod. A Scot from Edinburgh, he was Town Clerk of Daylesford for 23 years. He also owned and operated the’Battery’ or crusher for the goldbearing quartz. This was situated diagonally opposite the house so he used this room as his Parlour/office. It is now our Spa Suite an
